According to reports, Paris organizers will propose breakdancing as a new sport to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Other sports being proposed are surfing, climbing, and skateboarding, which will all debut at Tokyo 2020.

Tony Estanguet, a three-time canoeing Olympic champion and head of the Paris 2024 organizing committee, said the inclusion of the new sports would make the Olympics āmore urbanā and āmore artistic.ā
Breakdancing was included in the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires in 2018. Competitors engaged in head-to-head battle, the same format that would be used in Paris. The IOC will consider the proposal, but they must reach a decision by December 2020.
Russiaās Sergei Chernyshev, known as Bumblebee, won the first breakdancing gold medal for boys at last yearās Youth Olympics. Meanwhile, Japanās Ramu Kawai won the girls title.
As well as the proposed sports, Paris organizers also announced that the 2024 Games would allow the public to partake in the Olympic experience through virtual and connected sports.
Members of the public will be able to run the marathon course on the same day as the eventāstraight after the Olympic raceāunder the same conditions as those tackled by the athletes.
