Deontay Wilder Must Defeat Tyson Fury To Secure His Legacy

Boxing’s biggest fight of the year will bring the world one step closer to who the best heavyweight truly is.

The talk is now over. Boxing’s biggest fight of the year will bring the world one step closer to who the best heavyweight truly is.

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder has made it known that this fight is personal.

Joining athletic counterparts like Colin Kaepernick in a never-ending battle for cultural respect for his ancestors. Lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury stated that 200 years of gypsy discrimination in the United Kingdom was his motivation.

However, along with the fight for American racial inclusion, Wilder is fighting for respect. Wilder has been the champ since 2015 after going the distance with then-champ Bermane Stiverne. He righted the only “blemish” on his record by knocking Stiverne out brutally last year at the Barclays Center.

That win brought more visibility but there remained a vast contingent that still did not believe him to be the best.

Wilder followed with a vicious 10th round KO over Luis Ortiz. Popular opinion still positions Wilder as a man with more to prove.

Anthony Joshua

He campaigned for a fight against the man with all the other belts, Anthony Joshua, only to be disrespected and virtually placed on the back burner. Now with Fury stepping up to challenge Wilder, it puts him one step closer to securing his legacy as the man to beat.

Fight hype shenanigans aside, Wilder actually respects Fury for calling him out and actually making the fight. Still, Fury has used his platform to highlight his apparent glaring popularity over Wilder in America.

Fury is a Brit and falls in line with the Conor McGregor school of intimidation. Verbal warfare tactics.

Wilder has never disappointed his fans or himself performance wise. We saw this against Ortiz who pushed him into the deep end and also against Chris Arreola who he knocked out with a broken hand.

Now with the talk over, the only thing left is for Wilder to secure his fantasy matchup against Anthony Joshua by demolishing Tyson Fury tonight at the Staples Center.
