Whenever athletes are on other athletes’ podcasts or media platforms, there is a way they open up and communicate that doesn’t happen when they speak with traditional journalists.
Former Boston Celtics player and member of the 2008 NBA championship team Glen “Big Baby” Davis was a guest on the “All the Smoke” podcast hosted by former hoopers Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. During the interview, Davis revealed that rapper Lizzo is his celebrity crush after Jackson noted he was showing her a lot of love on Instagram.
“Yeah, I wanna do something with her,” Davis said. “Yeah, I wanna do something with Lizzo. I ain’t even gon’ lie. I just like her personality.”

All jokes aside, the “Truth Hurts” rapper might be down to talk to Davis. She might be cool talking with an athlete that shows her love.
Lizzo has never been shy about talking about her love life. She married herself in the “Truth Hurts” video and flirted with actor Chris Evans over DM. She even poked fun at herself during her “Saturday Night Live” monologue.
“They think I’m collecting members of One Direction like Infinity Stones. I even heard a rumor that I’m pregnant with Chris Evans’s baby. I have no idea where that one started. It could be the TikTok I did where I said, ‘I am pregnant with Chris Evans’ baby.’ It’s called manifesting.”
Lizzo likes to have fun, Big Baby likes to have fun. It could work …
Barnes and Jackson allowed Davis to address Lizzo directly, and he went for it.
“Lizzo, I’m talking to you. I’m reaching out. I done see you a couple of times, I ain’t really say nothing, but … I need you. I need you! Your energy — I feel like you and me together is a hell of a combination and we represent for the big people. I think you’re awesome, you beautiful and you know … I like that!”
As far as shooting his shot, not bad. We’ve seen better. But we’ve definitely seen worse. As an aside, Barnes and Jackson are pro cannabis, as are many of the guests that appear on the show. Does it look like Glen got blazed before the interview? He seems to be in a good headspace …
Good for him if he did. It’s legal in 38 states. We need to eliminate the stigma attached to marijuana. But we digress …
Back to the matter at hand.
Small problem though, Glen. Lizzo has a boyfriend. She is dating actor and comedian Myke Wright. They made their red carpet debut as a couple in June at the FYC event for her Amazon Prime Video series “Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.”
Wright as a stand-up comic appeared on “Adam Devine’s House Party” and “Laughs.” Additionally, he has a handful of acting credits, including “How to Be a Grown Up,” “Doubting Thomas,” and the short “Tell Me What You Know About Cyrus,” per IMDb.
Good effort, Glen, but Lizzo apparently is taken.
