The Indianapolis Colts have been making moves this offseason to secure their ticket in the Super Bowl conversation, and their latest deal involves agreeing to a contract extension with fourth-year receiving threat T.Y. Hilton.
The deal is for a reported five years, $65 million with a guaranteed mega $39 million, which is nearly twice as much guaranteed money as any other player on the Colts roster.
“The Colts showed interest that they wanted me and I also wanted to be here,” Hilton said earlier today. “There’s no place I rather be than here. This organization is great. I love being here. I didn’t want to go into the season with it on my mind. I’m ready to play. Go to practice and give it my all.”
Colts owner Jim Irsay told ESPN last month that he believed the two sides could get a deal done before Labor Day and that he did, locking up the receiver that’s coming off his first Pro Bowl appearance after posting 82 receptions for 1,345 yards last season.
This will be an exciting season for the Colts who have been getting better and better every season and show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Maybe this is the year the Colts get it done.
