This week on TSL Sports Talk, Southern University's head football coach, Dawson Odums joined us to talk about the Jaguar's upcoming season and his coaching career. TSL Sports Talk host, Mark Gray, opened up the interview by talking to Odums about his incredible first year as Southern's head coach, where he won the SWAC West Title, SWAC Championship and was named SWAC Coach of the Year. Gray asked Odums what his experience has been like since he’s taken over the football program.
Odums:
“Well, the players have bought into what the philosophy is and the process. I don’t really get too high or too low with wins and losses. I just think its comes with the territory. I think if you have a process in place and if you keep that process, winning finds you. We've executed enough so that we can win some football games. I think the players are excited about their achievements… I’ve been using a slogan- Don’t let the ring [let you] become complacent. Let it be motivation so that you know the work that went in- that’s the reward from the journey.. and they understand that. We really do a great job focusing our mindset on the right things. And that’s what its all about.”
