The Kansas City Chiefs are still licking their wounds from their humiliating 40-22 Super Bowl loss the Philadelphia Eagles, a game where they trailed 37-0 before finally touching paydirt. One of the main reasons besides for the Chiefs struggles besides the Eagles being the better overall team for the was the ineffectiveness of future Hall of Famer tight end Travis Kelce.
In the game, Kelce finished with just four receptions for 39 yards after tallying 31 receptions for 350 and two touchdowns in the Chiefs previous four trips to Super Sunday. In the aftermath of Kelce’s struggles there’s been plenty of talk about his relationship with pop and country music star Taylor Swift. The two have been dating since 2023, and Kelce has seen a decline in his play each of the last two seasons, including his lowest yardage output since his rookie season.
Kelce Struggling To Pull Double Duty: Football vs. Taylor Swift
As Kelce prepares to play his 12th NFL season (all with KC), he’s also trying to live that A-List celebrity lifestyle of his even more famous girlfriend. That has insiders talking about the three-time Super Bowl-winning pass catcher.
“He’s been trying to live two lives, and he’s paying the price,” our source said.
“He’s crazy about her. She’s become the center of his world and a lot of people are convinced that’s taken a toll on his game,” the insider added.
A Swift source begs to differ saying Kelce’s play isn’t being affected by his lifestyle change since he started dating the “Cruel Summer” songstress.
But the insider is adamant that trying to live like this is definitely catching up to the former Cincinnati Bearcats star.
“He’s already on the older side and most guys retire by 30. If he wants to stay competitive, he can’t live this life of excess with Taylor anymore,” warned our source. “He swears he’s putting football first, but it’s not so easy to suddenly switch gears.”
Kelce Working To Get Into Football Shape
With training camp just a month away, Kelce is reportedly working hard to be prepared, and he’s even rented a mansion in Boca Raton right out of Miami to enable himself to work out while being closer to Swift who spends a lot of her down time in the Sunshine State.
In fact, the lovebirds have been seen at many different sporting events this offseason, most recently they were spotted at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals in Sunrise, Florida.
“Fancy dinners with Taylor and the wild Hollywood parties are out. Now, it’s nothing but bland healthy food and quiet nights,” said our source. “He’s gone from one extreme to the other.”
2025 Could Be Kelce’s Final Season
Despite considering retirement this offseason, Kelce cited wanted to fulfill his contract as a huge factor for his return. But per source it’s possible this could be it for him.
“There’s a lot of speculation that he may pack it in at the end of this season, or even before.
“He’s got a lot of pride – if he can’t keep up, he’ll pull the plug.”
