On March 2, 1962, Wilt Chamberlain turned in the only triple-digit scoring effort in NBA history. In a Warriors-Knicks game played in Hershey, Pa., Chamberlain broke his own record of 78 points in the fourth quarter when he scored his never-before-ever-imagined 100th point with 46 second left, prompting the Chocolate Town crowd to storm the court. The 7'1 Warrior center set league records for field goals (36), free throws (28 of 32), most points for a quarter (31), and most points for a half (59).
After the Warriors finished off the Knicks, 169-147, Chamberlain said, "I wasn't even thinking of hitting 100, but after putting in nine straight free throws I was thinking about a foul-shooting record. It was my greatest game."
It was anyone's greatest game.
