According to ESPN.com, the bidders for the Atlanta Hawks now includes a group that includes former Atlanta Braves and home run king, Hank Aaron.
Valued by Forbes at $425 million, the Hawks franchise has been up for sale since last summer when racially sensitive emails and comments stated by Hawks senior management, including owner Bruce Levenson, were revealed. Now a deep-pocketed group, lead by Memphis Grizzlies owner Steve Kaplan, is reportedly in discussions to purchase the team outright. This group includes Indonesian sports magnates Eric Thohir and Handy Poernomo Soetedjo, Jason Levien, the managing general partner of MLS franchise DC United, and others including Aaron.
