Fresh out of college, Tara August knew that she wanted to pursue a career in professional sports. She interviewed for a position with the San Diego Chargers, but did not get the job. She decided to strengthen her resume for the career path that she desired and went on to a pursue a Master’s Degree in Sports Management.

She worked in Public Relations after grad school with Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and started her own agency, Eandeavor Sports PR and Marketing before being hired by Turner Sports. In 2009, she was approached about stepping out of her PR role and into another which she was seen as being well suited for.
Currently the Vice President of Talent Relations at Turner Sports, she oversees hiring, guest bookings and management of all talent across the company’s television networks, including TNT, TBS and NBA TV, along with its digital platforms which include NBA.com.
We caught up with the rising Power Player and sports executive at the TNT offices in Atlanta to get some insight on who she is and what she does behind the scenes to make the network’s sports broadcast team among the best in all of television.
