Weezie Whiff’s on Race, Again

When you first heard that Lil’ Wayne was going to be interviewed on ABC News with Linsey Davis, and it wasn’t going to be about music, I wondered if he was going to talk about drug abuse or something. After all, he had already made an utter fool of himself on Fox Sports 1 back in September, telling Skip Bayless that he had never experienced racism and did know what Black Lives Matter was all about.

But wait, once upon a time, isn’t this the same guy who accused the Oklahoma City Thunder organization of being racist?

After his recent interview, the Twitter firestorm was inevitable.

“I don’t feel connected to a damn thing that ain’t got nothing to do with me,” he said on Nightline. He added that he was young, black and rich.

According to TMZ, Lil’ Weezie said the reporter’s line of questioning about misogynistic and offensive lyrics relative to his daughter threw him off.

He answered;: “All those same lyrics made me who I am and I am a very successful man. So, if it takes me to be degrading, then, man, please keep looking out for more, ’cause it’s coming, baby.’ When the reporter began asking me questions about my daughter being labeled a bitch and a ho, I got agitated. From there, there was no thought put into her questions and my responses.”

“My life matter, especially to my b——,” he said, winking at the camera.

He reportely stormed out of the interview shortly thereafter, telling ABC News correspondent Linsey Davis “I’m not a politician”.

Lil’ Wayne continues to alienate himself from the black intelligentsia, black academia, and even the most liberal of contemporary black sensibilities with his music and words.

As a rapper turned rock and roll superstar bent on sticking it to “The Man”, perhaps the only folks that eventually get stuck are the parents and guardians of the generation currently housing his largest number of fans.

After all, to rock is to roll against society at large. To him, BLM is society at large.  To him, this has been much ado about nothing.  That’s why we should stop asking him questions he’s clearly is not capable of answering.
