Video: Streets of Rage 4 Announced, Trailer Released

Iconic ’90s Sega game Streets of Rage is coming back for its fourth installment.

A reveal trailer for Streets of Rage 4 was dropped on Dotemu’s Youtube channel Monday afternoon. The game is set to be developed by LizardCube (Wonder Boy: The Dragons Trap), Guard Crush Games (Streets of Fury), and Dotemu (Wonder Boy: The Dragons Trap).

Streets of Rage 4 builds on the classic trilogy’s gameplay with new mechanics, a fresh new storyline featuring the series protagonists Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding, a gauntlet of dangerous stages and hand-drawn visuals from the team behind Wonder Boy.

Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games and Dotemu are thrilled to present Streets of Rage 4. Featuring hand-drawn visuals from the team behind 2017’s gorgeous Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, Streets of Rage 4 builds upon the classic trilogy’s gameplay with new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem.

It’s been nearly a quarter century since we’ve last seen this game. The side-rolling beat-em-up franchise first surfaced in 1991 for Sega Genesis but capped off with the last installment, Streets of Rage 3, in April, 1994.

There’s no word yet on price, release date or platforms for Streets of Rage 4, but veteran gamers are excited to see the revival of this franchise.
