The University of Connecticut said in a statement this morning that the NCAA is investigating its men’s basketball program.
“We are working closely with the NCAA’s enforcement division as they conduct this inquiry,” the statement said.
Huskies coach Kevin Ollie and the program are reportedly under investigation in the area of recruiting, though the the depth and seriousness of the allegations are unknown at this time.
The investigation is not related to the ongoing FBI probe into bribery at college basketball programs around the country.

“UConn is absolutely committed to a culture of compliance and intends to fully cooperate, as always, with the NCAA. We will do so in a thorough and transparent manner reflective of the model athletic and academic institution we continually strive to be,” school president Susan Herbst said in the statement.
Last year, the UConn men suffered their first losing season in thirty years. They’re currently struggling with an 11-9 record.
After taking over for his mentor and Hall of Fame coach Jim Calhoun, Ollie led the Huskies to an unexpected national championship in 2014.
We will appropriately address and respond to this inquiry and continue cooperating fully with the NCAA as this process moves forward, UConn said in its statement. Until that time, we will have no further comment.
