HBCU basketball has had some great moments during March Madness, just ask Hampton or Norfolk State. Texas Southern’s Mike Davis is aiming to achieve the same success, but to do it on a more consistent basis with the Texas Southern Tigers.
With stops at UAB and Indiana, Coach Davis has tried to infuse a winning attitude both on and off the court, and he has definitely found a home in Houston with Texas Southern. In his five seasons at the school, Davis has amassed a record of 99-68, with a SWAC record of 76-14. That also includes four regular-season titles and three SWAC Tournament championships in the last four years.
Davis is definitely winning and looks to continue that streak tomorrow as the Tigers make their fourth straight postseason appearance (three NCAA Tournaments and one NIT appearance) against the #1 seeded UNC Tar Heels.
