Swin Cash’s Humble Beginnings Have Helped Make Her A Champion In Life

Swin Cash might have retired from the WNBA as a player in the summer of 2016, but her smooth game is still a force to be reckoned with off the court.

Few names are as synonymous with basketball excellence as hers. An All-American prep star at McKeesport Area High School outside of Pittsburgh, Cash helped the UCONN Huskies win the National Championship in 2000 and 2002. The college All-American was a force to be reckoned with during the Huskies undefeated, 32-0 season in 2002, earning Most Outstanding Player honors for that year’s NCAA Tournament.

She parlayed that excellence into becoming the No.2 overall WNBA Draft pick by the Detroit Shock. Cash went on to win three WNBA championships and was a four-time league All-Star, in addition to earning two Gold Medals with Team USA at the 2004 and 2012 Olympics in Athens and London respectively.

One of the most decorated players in women’s hoops history, she still shines in front of the camera covering sports and cultural issues for several television outlets. But her true passion, outside of sports, rests in helping others. She is the founder of Swin Cash Enterprises LLC, Cash Building Blocks LP, an urban development company that renovates and offers affordable homes for low income families, and the Cash for Kids Foundation, with a mission to motivate, educate and elevate young people through physical fitness, nutrition, education, cultural trips and sports camps.

For the past year, she’s also been working with the New York Liberty as the Director of Franchise Development, assisting with the team’s business and basketball operations.

We sat down with this emerging power player to talk about her moves, both on and off the court.
