No Charges To Be Filed In Prince Overdose Death

Carver County Attorney Mark Metz’s announcement of possible criminal charges in the 2016 death of music icon Prince brought much speculation when it was initially announced. However, today during a press conference in Chaska, Minnesota the attorney’s office it was announced that law enforcement was unable to determine the source of the counterfeit fentanyl that responsible for the music legend’s demise. A toxicology report released last month revealed concentrations of the opioid that was “extremely high.” 

 At the time of his death, Prince was being treated by Michael Schulenberg, a Minneapolis geriatrician, for opioid withdrawal, anemia and fatigue, a source with knowledge of his treatment told NBC News in 2016. At the time of his death, many didn’t believe Prince, who was a proponent of clean living, would abuse drugs. 

Prince had been suffering from hip problems years of performing and dancing. Some believe he was in constant pain.
