Queensbridge, NY born rapper Nas is one of those rap artists whose celebrity has not waned over the years. In fact, one could argue that his celebrity status is more vibrant than ever with the recent release of the critically-acclaimed documentary Nas: Time is Illmatic. On Tuesday it was announced that he will embark on a North American tour that will also coincide with screenings of the documentary, though the film will not be screened on every stop of the tour. He will perform all ten tracks from his first album Illmatic from start to finish.
"I want to thank Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and the Tribeca Film family for all of the love and support they've given Time Is Illmatic," said Nas in a statement. "It is an honor to be in partnership with them, and I feel there is a cultural kinship bonded by the city of New York."
The documentary project was produced by Erik Parker and shot by One9.
