Migos and rap mogul Drake have collaborated on a music video for Walk It Talk It that just dropped. The track is off of Migos’ recently released album
Culture II, which was the number one album in the country when it debuted.
The Kings of rap went full retro blast with an on-point 2018 duplication of the classic dance show Soul Train, an American music-dance television program that found prominence in the 70s and 80s bringing people of color and their music and dance culture into the homes of people across the country. The show itself, created by Don Cornelius actually aired in syndication from October 2, 1971, to March 27, 2006.
The clip drops with an appearance from Jamie Foxx as Ron Delirious (a spin-off of the legendary host ). In the vid, Foxx is the host of typically retro TV show Culture Ride and opens before the singing trio begin their performance of the Culture II track.
After making an appearance on the studio version of the track, Drake makes an appearance in the video. His 80s apparel complemented the pimped out, afro-rocking player looks of Migos. Drake’s wig had a wet curl Rick James sexy-but-bad appeal, but he captured the essence of yesteryear as well.
The video even included the classic Soul Train segment where a dancing couple gets to decipher the word of the day with those letter magnets your mom used to keep up on the refrigerator. Of course, the Soul Train line was super lit with Drake stealing the shine on that.
The video is definitely some throwback magic and captures all of the elements of a fire video: vibed out beats, comedy, machismo, the supreme feminine presence and cameos by heavyweights in the entertainment world. The video also displays the growth of Migos as entertainers, businessmen and messengers, rather than massacrists, of black music culture.
