Marcus Browne Receives His Own Day On Staten Island

Today, the borough of Staten Island will reward undefeated boxing light heavyweight “Sir” Marcus Browne with a Proclamation. The event will take place at Staten Island’s Borough Hall where the undefeated fighter will also host an open workout.

The 2012 Olympian is gearing up for his July 15th Premier Boxing Champions bout against fellow New York City standout Seanie Monaghan. The fight is the co-main event to the return of Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero against Omar “Panterita” Figueroa. This is the first boxing event at the newly-renovated NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. It is also the first boxing event at the Coliseum since Mike Tyson headlined in 1986.

States Island Borough President James Oddo will officially proclaim today “Marcus Browne Day” and renowned commentator and boxing trainer Teddy Atlas will be on hand to make comments. Browne was a product of Atlas Cops and Kids Boxing Gym, where a host of young up and coming amateur boxing stars trained.

Marcus Browne Knock Outs

Sir Marcus Browne Knock Out Compilation I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor)

Browne made his debut in November of 2012, right after the Olympics, where he scored a third round knockout on a Golden Boy undercard. He would go 6-0 with six knockouts as he rose up the ranks. Browne’s first title came when he won a controversial split decision over Radivoje Kalajdvic in 2016.

Currently, Browne remains undefeated at 19-0, with his latest win coming via a sixth round KO over Thomas William, Jr. in February.

With the light heavyweight division now on fire with Andre Ward and Adonis Stevenson leading the pack, Browne is hoping that a win over Monaghan will lead him down the path to a world title.
