Louisiana Mayor Bans Nike Because Of Colin Kaepernick Ad

Kenner, Louisiana mayor E. Ben Zahn III just couldn’t get over the fact that Nike was collaborating with Colin Kaepernick, so in a memo that was dated on September 5, he ordered that the city’s recreational center not buy Nike apparel or equipment.

The memo reads:

Effective immediately all purchases made by any booster club operating at any Kenner Recreation Facility for wearing apparel, shoes, athletic equipment and/or any athletic product must be approved by the Director of Parks and Recreation, or his designee. Under no circumstances will any Nike product or any product with the Nike logo be purchased for use or delivery at any City of Kenner Recreation Facility.

It’s just another ridiculous response to Nike after their Labor Day announcement that Kaepernick would be the face of their “Just Do It”30th-anniversary campaign.

For the 30th anniversary of their famous “Just Do It” campaign @nike goes big and rightfully gives @kaepernick7 his just due. A few days later, they premiered their ad online and aired it during the NFL’s opening game on Thursday night.
