Garcia will be most remembered by today’s fans for his association with five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., with whom he worked with for over a decade.

Mayweather released a statement on social media: “Rafael Garcia you will be missed. You lived your life to the fullest, and you will be remembered for all your contributions to the sport of boxing. Let your soul rest with no more pain. Love always and forever your Mayweather Promotions family.”

Garcia wrapped Mayweather’s hands, took care of any cuts, although there were not many, and always provided a sense of comfort to Mayweather during their heat of battle. Mayweather retired back in August at age 40 with a 50-0 record and 27 knockouts when he bested Conor McGregor in the highly touted “Fight of the Century”.
