Kobe Bryant is, at the very least, the second-best shooting guard to ever play basketball in the NBA. The accolades are vast, the skills are insane, and his clutch gene is mythical; even scoring 60 points in his final game, Bryant has given his all to the Los Angeles Lakers fan base and now the time has come to make sure the name Bryant lives in Lakers lore in perpetuity.

According to TMZ, the Lakers will retire Kobe Bryant’s jersey before the Warriors game on Dec 18! Do you think they will retire both 8 & 24?
Bryants No. 8 and No. 24 will both be retired in a ceremony at Staples Center prior to a game against the Golden State Warriors on Dec. 18. Bryant played exactly ten seasons in each number, with 8 All-Star appearances in No. 8 and 10 All-Star nods in No. 24. Additionally, Bryant won three championships with No. 8 and two with No. 24. He also won two NBA Finals MVPs .
Bryant, who retired after the 2015-16 season, played 20 seasons with the Lakers, winning five championships. The 18-time All-Star scored 33,643 career points, currently third on the all-time list behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone.

The Lakers usually only retire the jersey’s of players in the Basketball Hall of Fame. However, Kobe isn’t eligible yet and the Lakers don’t appear to be in the waiting mood. He becomes the tenth Los Angeles Lakers to have his jersey hung in the rafters, joining Wilt Chamberlain (13), Elgin Baylor (22), Gail Goodrich (25), Magic Johnson (32), Abdul-Jabbar (33), O’Neal (34), James Worthy (42), Jerry West (44) and Jamaal Wilkes (52) in basketball immortality.
