Without question, the best fighter of all time in MMA is now Georges St-Pierre after a stunning finish over Michael “The Count” Bisping at UFC 217 last night. After four years away, GSP made UFC history on Saturday night when he submitted the now former champ via rear naked choke.
St-Pierre (26-2), who left the sport as a long-reigning welterweight champion, is now the new 185-pound titleholder and just the fourth two-division champion in the sports history.

GSP exerted his dominance early setting the tone for a back and forth battle for the ages that proved he is not only the best fighter of all time, but also that Michael Bisping is one of the toughest fighters ever.
From the outset, St-Pierre let Bisping know he wasn’t intimidated by the 15-pound upgrade in weight. GSP went to the center of the octagon, landing right hands over the top while attempting spinning kicks. Bisping, although smothered early, stayed in the fight throughout, landing lefts and a solid jab consistently. With two minutes left in the first round, St-Pierre clipped Bisping with a right hand, but couldnt drop him.
St-Pierre dropped down for his signature takedowns, securing it repeatedly. A succession of Freddie Roach inspired right hands connected, but not long after that Bisping popped St-Pierres head back with a hard right. With two minutes left, St-Pierre got Bisping down in the center of the octagon and got to half-guard.
Bisping got right back to his feet and landed a big right hand, nearly taking St-Pierre’s head off his feet and St. Pierre slowed the pace down considerably late in the second round.
In the third, St-Pierre took his opponent down for the third time, but Bisping showed why he was a champion when he landed elbows from the bottom and cut St-Pierre open. GSP, now a bloody mess, boxed and landed a perfect left hook that put Bisping on the canvas. St-Pierre dropped down and started hammering away with punches.
Referee “Big” John McCarthy watched as they scrambled and ultimately St-Pierre took Bisping’s back and quickly sunk him in a rear-naked choke. Bisping refused to tap and went out cold, making St-Pierre the latest two-division champion.
For returning after four years, finishing his opponent in spectacular fashion, stepping up fifteen pounds above his dominant welterweight class and surviving the bloodiest injury in his career to win a title on his return fight, GSP is the greatest MMA fighter of all time.
