Anthony Davis Drops Agent, Eyes King James’ Representation

New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis is a perennial MVP contender destined to become the NBA’s premier talent one day, a title LeBron James has held almost a decade. Davis first step in that process occurred on Saturday when he cut ties with agent Thad Foucher, ESPN.com’sBrian Windhorst and Ramona Shelburne reported Saturday.

Reports say Klutch Sports’ Rich Paul is a “leading contender” to represent the five-time All-Star.

Paul most notably represents James and also has reigning Rookie of the Year Ben Simmons and Washington Wizards franchise player John Wall under the Klutch Sports umbrella.

According to B/R, Davis is likely looking ahead to the summer of 2020 as he makes a move to a new agent. The 25-year-old is set to earn $25.4 million in 2018-19 and $27.0 million in 2019-20 before he’s eligible for free agency. He has a $28.7 million player option for 2020-21 that he almost certainly won’t exercise.

Davis averaged 28.1 points, 11.1 rebounds and a league-high 2.6 blocks in 2017-18 and is the No. 2 betting favorite behind James to win the NBA MVP in 2018-19, per OddsShark.

With the latest developments, Davis and James might actually build a relationship that could end up with the two ballers playing together at some point. It’s farfetched right now, but Bron is always thinking a few years ahead.

For the record, Anthony Davis won’t be a free agent until the summer of 2020 at the earliest, when he has a Player Option. Lakers will need a new contract for Ingram that summer. Have LeBron under contract then + team options on Lonzo, Moe, Kuz, Hart, Svi. Bonga non-guaranteed
