Anthony Davis And The Dubs Would Be A Real-Life Monstar Team

If the Warriors acquired superstar forward Anthony Davis, Adam Silver should do what he did when CP3 was headed to the Lakers and nix the deal for the good of the game.

Even after winning their third championship in four seasons, Tim Kawakami of The Athletic reports that the Golden State Warriors are still interested in adding another “best player in the game”candidate to a squad that is already substantially more talented than all of the other teams in the NBA.

Warriors remain interested in acquiring Anthony Davis, per @timkawakami https://t.co/4sxC0GcQiQ

Golden States reportedly not putting on a full court press for Anthony Davis like they did with Kevin Durant as the team is currently focused on signing Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to contract extensions, but facilitating some kind of trade for Davis is still in play. There are financial constraints on Thompson and Green’s contract extensions and that may cause a problem during negotiations. Both players would stand to make over $80 million more by becoming unrestricted free agents.

Even if two of Golden States four core players somehow accept a massive pay cut to remain with the NBA champs, its unlikely that Davis will be able to force himself out of the New Orleans Pelicans mix and into a trade to the Warriors in the immediate future. Davis is under contract through the 2020-21 season and he might be stuck with the lack of talent hes currently surrounded with.

The fact that Golden State is even considering ways to acquire Davis is crazy. If they could pull it off and even if they lose Klay or Draymond somewhere in the process, Golden State would still have the greatest roster of talent to ever grace the hardwood and the deck would be stacked even more for a team that already holds all the cards in NBA game of free agent poker.
