Pittsburgh Pirates centerfielder Andrew McCutchen was honored with the Roberto Clemente award, given annually to players who are outstanding both on the field and in the community.

“Andrew McCutchen, you are a great ballplayer both on and off the field,” said Clemente’s widow, Vera. “Roberto would have been proud to see you standing up here today.”
The five-time All-Star began the season by cutting off his trademark dreads and auctioning them off for charity. He also established Cutch’s Crew in 2010 to aid at-risk youth and inner city youth baseball players in Pittsburgh.
