Director Spike Lee has been tapped for Spinning Gold, which is expected to begin filming mid-2014. The film, which stars Justin Timberlake, tells the story of record exec Neil Bogart in a biopic of a poor kid from Brooklyn, who defined pop music before dying of cancer in 1982 at age 39.
Lee’s most recent projects include directing a remake of Old Boy which releases November 27, along with raising $1.36 million during a 2-month Kickstarter campaign to “fund a film focused on human beings who are addicted to blood.”
