Serena Williams Wins Wimbledon To Tie Steffi Graf’s Record

Serena Williams captured her seventh Wimbledon title today, beating Angelique Kerber 7-5, 6-3 on Centre Court to match Steffi Graf’s Open era record.

Margaret Court holds the all-time record with 24 Grand Slam titles.

Kerber beat Williams in the Australian Open final for her first Grand Slam title. Williams also reached the final at the French Open, but lost to Garbine Muguruza.

There was no denying her this time.

With Jay Z and Beyonc in the crowd cheering her on, Williams became the fourth woman in the Open Era to win seven or more singles titles at a Grand Slam event, joining Martina Navratilova’s nine Wimbledon crowns, Graf’s seven at Wimbledon and Chris Evert’s seven at the French Open.
