Scott Brooks Fired by The Oklahoma City Thunder

After a seven year run, multiple playoff appearances and one NBA Finals appearance, the Oklahoma City Thunder have decided to part ways with head coach Scott Brooks.

After an injury plagued season which saw team stars Kevin Durant and Michael Westbrook go down and various times during the year, and an amazing performance put on by Westbrook over the last few weeks of the season, the team decided it was time to move in a different direction.

“As we all know, this past year we had unique and challenging circumstances and as I have conveyed, not many people could have accomplished what Scott and this team were able to,” Thunder GM Sam Presti said in a statement. “Therefore, it is very important to state that this decision is not a reflection of this past season, but rather an assessment of what we feel is necessary at this point in time in order to continually evolve, progress and sustain.”

Brooks had a record of 338207 during his time with the Thunder,

Yahoo! reports that Brooks will become one of the top candidates for jobs in both Orlando and Denver. Earlier Wednesday, one of Brooks’ rumored replacements, UConn coach Kevin Ollie, issued a statement saying he had “no plans to pursue other opportunities.”
