Samuel L. Jackson Picked Up for Cell

The film adaptation of Stephen King’s 2006 apocalyptic thriller novel Cell has just added Samuel L. Jackson to its roster. Playing opposite of John Cusack, Jackson will portray the role of Tom McCourt, an engineer/former soldier who flees Boston with Cusack’s character after a virus-like supernatural pulse transmitted from cell phones begins to spread over civilization. Mr. Jackson was last seen on screen in Django Unchained and has two upcoming films, Old Boy and Robocop.

The film’s screenplay was adapted by Stephen King and Adam Alleca, and according to Hollywood Reporter, will be financed by Benaroya Pictures, directed by Tod “Kip” Williams, and produced by Richard Saperstein, Michael Benaroya, Brian Witten, and Shara Kay. Production for Cell is set for January 2014.
