Combat sports journalist extraordinaire, Thomas Gerbasi blesses the PLH set with his wisdom on everything pugilistic. Welcome back to the PRITTY Left Hook podcast where we get real about combat sports. I promise you that I will take a position that will have you either fist-bumping your co-worker in the next cubicle or cursing me out voraciously. I talk trash and get in that ass (pause).
This week we talk to my combat sports journalism Yoda, Thomas Gerbasi! This is a very special, full circle moment for myself because Tom gave me my first combat sports journalism opportunity, and check, ha! This dynamo went from cleaning toilets to becoming one of the most sought after and respected journalists in boxing and MMA.
Gerbasi’s list of accomplishments read like a writer’s wish list of projects. Gerbasi is the author of UFC Encyclopedia, UFC Fan Guide, Ring Ramblings-Tales of a Cyber Journalist, and From Fightin’ to Writin’. He also has been published on Yahoo Sports, ESPN.com, Rolling Stone Australia, The Daily Beast, The Village Voice, and many more.
His awards from the Boxing Writer’s Association of America, where he also is part of the membership selection committee, are numerous. Gerbasi is the man and keeps it real on new media content creators vs. esteemed journalists, upcoming fights, and how the fight game is evolving. Oh yeah, and we shoot the crap out of a cash cannon.
You already slow, bih!
