The 62-year-old former NFL MVP was arrested, booked and later released.
Back in 2010 when he was arrested for having sex with a 16-year-old girl. He pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute, Taylor was registered as a low-risk sex offender.
There was the brief stint in Hollywood, appearing in the critically acclaimed Oliver Stone film, “Any Given Sunday.” He also had roles in HBO’s original series “The Sopranos” and minor roles in “The Waterboy” and “Shaft” (2000).
His prowess and success on the field had earned him numerous opportunities to continue to make tons of money and remain in the spotlight. He was a beloved figure. But maybe all of that was the problem.
Then there was that fateful night in 2010 with the underaged prostitute that got us here. Lawrence Taylor, a registered sex offender.
The reckless abandon that Taylor pursued opposing quarterbacks and menaced opposing running backs with was the same way he lived his life off the field. Like football, that’s an unhealthy way to go through life. It seems like the demons that have plagued him for so long, and like so many other great athletes, are really tough to shake.
LT changed addresses at some point recently in Florida and didn’t let the authorities know, so the punishment isn’t likely to be too severe. Still, it’s another sign that everything isn’t all together in his life. At 62, he’s running out of chances.
Taylor was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999.
