For Derrick Rose, 2013 may have been Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, but Nate Robinson’s only season in Chicago may have been the most memorable one of his entire NBA career. No one can ever replace Derrick Rose, but for a stop-gap option, Robinson’s passion was a perfect match for Thibodeau’s band of scrappy brothers.
His 34-point game in a three-overtime win against the Brooklyn Nets produced an instant classic, helped propel them to the second round and enshrined him into NBA lore. Unfortunately, now that Rose is healthy, Robinson is expendable. Late Monday, Robinson agreed to a two-year deal with the Denver Nuggets worth $4 million.
But not without showing a little love to Chicago on his Facebook page.
The Nuggets are on the opposite end of the Bulls’ sluggish offensive tempo and defense first (second and third) philosophy. Robinson should acclimate quickly to Denver’s propensity for putting up points in bunches and the thin air should be a boon for his acrobatic playing style.
However, Robinson does have one problem: He needs to pick a number. Robinson is currently deciding between No. 10 and No. 5.
