Rapper Nas has a lot going on these days headed to HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher Friday night to let people know. His life and career are the subject of the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival selection Time Is Illmatic. Produced and written by Erik Parker and directed by One9, the documentary will delve into the making of Nas’ classic 1994 debut album Illmatic and the social conditions that helped influence its creation. It will also explore the social conditions and environments that influenced his worldview as well.
Time Is Illmatic is the very first recipient of the Candescent Award via the Tribeca Film Institute. In addition, Nas has an autobiographical drama series coming out on the Xbox platform titled Street Dreams as well. Album plans and upcoming tours will likely be subjects discussed as well.
