The buzz around FOX’s hip hop drama Empire sounds like a must see. The Lee Daniels pilot stars Terrence Howard as a music mogul about to take his company public, by any means necessary – legal or not. His ex-wife and former business partner, played by Taraji P. Henson, has just been released from a 17 year bid over drug charges. And now that she’s out on good behavior, she wants her due. Adding to more drama, their son played by Jussie Smollet, is a music prodigy, who’s shunned by his father for being gay. As a way to rebel and stay clear of his dad’s world, he keeps his music positive and “pure.”
Described as a “unique family drama,” Lee Daniels' pilot has Danny Strong and Imagine’s Brian Grazer behind it.
