TMZ is reporting that Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce, ending their 7-year marriage. It’s been a wild ride for Kanye & Kim, but the fairytale union is over.
Few details are known, but what can be gleaned is that the breakup is amicable. She is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the former couple’s four kids. They also have a prenup in place.
No one is surprised that Laura Wasser has been tapped to file the divorce.
The couple has been in troubled waters for a while now, most notably when the “Gold Digger” rapper revealed that he and his wife discussed aborting their oldest daughter, North West. Further unraveling was well documented on social media as he (possibly during a bipolar episode) attacked her mother and others.
They did try to make it work amongst the madness, media stalking and other internal issues, despite living in separate states (first he moved back to Illinois and then to Wyoming).
But those efforts have proved to be in vain.
The couple has been headliners since the beginning of their romance. While fans were hoping for Kimye to be forever, many saw the dissolve coming. Rumors also report that his recent re-dedication to his faith also weighed on the relationship. The family show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, revealed that Kim didn’t want to drastically change her life to conform to his newfound religion.
Luckily, they are committed to co-parenting. At one time they seemed to be very much in love. Maybe they will reconcile one day.
