The Danny Garcia – Keith Thurman press conference at Dream Downtown in Manhattan was low key compared to a recent presser in which Danny Garcias father Angel called Keith Thurman a B**** Ass N*****.
Angel was wilding, but he was unjustly accused of being racist by certain journalist folk who dont understand that when used as one word, the term has nothing to do with race and everything to do with character.
Still, the end result was a near brawl at the presser. It wasnt a show either, the two sides were agitated and ready to get it on right there. So at this point, everything that needs to be said between the two sides has been said.
On Thursday the two men both played the gentleman role.
Garcia, accompanied by his entourage of 10-15 soldiers, kept his comments pretty low pro and self-centered but confident, proclaiming that I will win the fight because Im the better fighter.
Thurman was a bit more complimentary, but left no doubt of his intentions on March 4th at Barclays Center.
Were young. We’re hungry. Were not trying to wait around. Its time for this to go down.
This Is a fight you cant miss,Thurman implored. This is gonna be at ya house. If you can’t make it to the arena you can make it to your couch.”
On Saturday night the top welterweight in the world will be decided when Keith One time Thurman faces Philly funkster in Danny Swift Garcia for a 147-pound title unification fight.
The match is basically considered a toss-up. Thurman is about a 2/1 betting favorite.
They’re both highly-skilled boxers who are also powerful punchers, Showtime GM Stephen Espinoza said on a recent teleconference. And this is a rare battle of undefeated champions fighting to unify the division. It’s so rare, in fact, that this is just the 10th world title unification bout in the history of the welterweight division. This will go down among the likes of Leonard vs. Hearns, Trinidad vs. De La Hoya, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. This is the kind of elite company this fight is in, in being a welterweight world title unification fight.
Brooklyn Nets CEO Brett Yormark is also the Chief Executive Officer of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment and oversees the business enterprise that manages and controls the Brooklyn Nets, Barclays Center, the New York Islanders business operations, the new Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and the Nets Development League affiliate, the Long Island Nets.
Yormark proclaimed this fight as the biggest fight ever at Barclays and predicts that there will be more people than at any Barclays boxing match ever.
It has a good chance to eclipse the sales record set last month with a UFC event. For Garcia, it is 360. He fought in the first boxing match at the Barclays in 2012. Thurman has fought twice in Brooklyn and impressed.

Its the second prime time boxing match in CBS history and just the third championship fight between undefeated middleweight challengers. The hype has been over the top and the believable disdain is there. Tickets are being sold and people want to see a warriors effort from these guys.
Now its all about the fists.
