Josh Freeman Will Get His First Start With The Vikings

Josh Freeman will begin his road to redemption when he starts with the Minnesota Vikings next Monday night vs. the New York Giants. According to ESPN, the decision came after coaches noticed how quickly he grasped the offense.

From ESPN :

"Our anticipation is he will play well," Frazier said.

The Vikings' coach had initially planned to give Freeman more time to get ready after signing him last Monday, but once Frazier saw how fluent Freeman already was in the Vikings' offense during a scout team session after practice last Wednesday, he began to think he could speed up the timetable.

Frazier said he informed general manager Rick Spielman and the Vikings' ownership of what he was planning to do, and that they signed off on his decision.

Christian Ponder will be the backup Monday, Frazier said. Matt Cassel had started the past two games at quarterback while Ponder was sidelined with a rib injury.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out for both sides. If Freeman does well this can turn around the Vikings season. This also puts an end to Matt Cassell and Christian Ponder's tenures in Minnesota if the coaches decide to stick with Freeman start for the rest of the season.
