Geno Smith “Trails” The Competition Early At Jets Camp

Geno Smith in contention for starting QB for the New York Jets, is already trailing the competition early. At least during wind sprints. Smith has reportedly shown up to camp with poor conditioning.

“He looked good yesterday until they ran gassers at the end of practice, and Geno Smith looked like he had done no conditioning,” Baldinger said of Smith. “It was actually embarrassing to see how far behind he was behind Sanchez, [Matt] Simms and everybody else that’s there.”

Geno has got to be in pretty bad shape to finish behind Sanchez and Simms who run in quicksand. Or Maybe all the dancing Sanchez was doing this past summer has aided his conditioning. Either way, the most important thing for a starting QB is accuracy and Geno has had the edge thus far. Geno has all pre-season to work himself into top shape.
