Gary Russell Jr. Is All About That Gym Life

“Back in the gym on Monday.” It’s the phrase Gary Russell Jr. lives by, and when you see him in the ring, you understand how being about that gym life pays off.

On this episode of the TSL Power Hour, Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton and I speak with the WBC featherweight champion before he fights tomorrow against Oscar Escandon at the MGM Grand National Harbor, located in his backyard of Oxon Hill, MD. After a postponement of the matchup due to Escandon suffering an injury in training camp, Russell finally gets the chance to defend his belt.

This also marks the first  time Russell has ever fought in his home court since he turned professional, which should create even more excitement around an already great event. To make it a true family affair, his two brothers are also featured on the card. Gary Antonio Russell (7-0) continues to push up the ranks and youngest brother, Gary Antuanne Russell, fresh off his performance at the 2016 Rio Olympics, makes his professional debut on the card.

Aside from this weekend’s fight, Gary goes off a passionate discussion on Vasyl Lomachenko, the only man to beat him, and his determination to stay on top of the game. Tune in to a man with a name so great they had to give it to like five dudes. You’ve been blessed.
