Pittsburgh has always been a tough team but now they may need to have nerves of steel to overcome this recent crop of injuries.
The Steelers, attempting to build off of the strong defensive performance against The Panthers, has now lost three starters on the defensive side of the ball. Cornerback Ike Taylor, suffered a broken arm, leaving Brice McCain and former Dallas Cowboys corner B.W. Webb in charge of the position for the immediate future. Starting linebacker Jarvis Jones has been placed on IR after injuring his wrist and rookie first round pick Ryan Shazier is out with an injured knee. Sean Spence will look to produce for the Steelers in Shazier’s absence and Lawrence Timmons will remain the team’s defensive leader, but he cannot do this on his own. This is why the team put the signal in the sky to call for help, and the call was answered by an old friend.
The Steelers have signed James Harrison, the former Steeler great who owns one of the greast plays in Super Bowl history. With a nose for the ball and his hard hitting style, James Harrison was the Steeler’s defensive soul and his the team is hoping that his re-signing can help the team recapture their reputation for toughness and hard hitting Steeler football. "He had a good, solid week of work, not to be confuse with an easy week of work. We're excited to have him back, and today will be a good start" said Tomlin to Steelers.com when asked about Harrison's playting time today.
As the teams prepare for kickoff, we'll see how Harrison's presence impacts the game.
