This weekend is chock full of action folks, so lets get right into your Power Sports options for this weekend:

BELLATOR 141

Melvin The Young Assassin Guillard is back in action tonight, live and free on Spike TV. He faces off against journeyman fighter Brandon Girtz at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, CA. This is Guillards debut in the MMA promotion and one that came from a series of missteps and unfortunate events for Guillard.

After debuting at the age of 13 years old, via written consent from his father, the native of New Orleans has had more than 150 fights, although they weren’t documented so they cannot be verified. By age 16 he was a professional fighter during the sport’s dark ages where rules, weight classes and classiness were all lacking horribly from the sport.

After being a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter, appearing in the UFC over a dozen times and getting busted for cocaine, Guillard looks to rebound back into top tier action. Catch t all tonight at 9pm EST/6pm PST

PREMIER BOXING CHAMPIONS: MARES VS. SANTA CRUZ

Former Mexican Olympic team and two-time world champion, Abner Mares returns to action against fellow Southern Californian, Leo Santa Cruz.

Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and fighting out of Downey, Calif., Mares (WATCH- Driven: Abner Mares) first tasted world championship gold in 2011 when he beat Joseph Agbeko to win the bantamweight world title. He continued his rise up the pound-for-pound list with wins over Anselmo Moreno and Daniel Ponce De Leon to win world titles at super bantamweight and featherweight respectively. The 29-year-old has won three straight fights including his first PBC appearance in a victory over Arturo Reyes in March. He will look to add another career milestone and take hometown bragging rights by defeating the unbeaten Santa Cruz.

A two-division world champion with a fan-friendly style, the 26-year-old Santa Cruz won his first world title in 2012 before adding another belt in 2013, which he defended four times. Unbeaten as a pro, Santa Cruz moved up in weight in his last fight and handedly defeated Jose Cayetano on the pay-per-view undercard of the record-breaking Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight. Born and raised in Los Angeles to Mexican parents, Santa Cruz faces the toughest challenge of his career when he squares off against the Mexican warrior Mares.

It’s another great fight in the long tradition of great fighters in Mexican boxing history. The two fight tomorrow night live from the Staples Center on ESPN. Televised coverage for this long awaited event begins at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

BOXING: MOSELEY VS. MAYORGA

Tomorrow the PPV Gods have given fight fans what they all have been clamoring for: a rematch between Ricardo Mayorga and Shane Moseley. Sarcasm aside, yesterday Mayorga slapped the backside of Moseleys current girlfriend during a press conference face-off. Some say it was staged but regardless, it has definitely generated attention for the fight.

This has indeed made the competition more interesting, which was hard to make with Don King filing injunctions every time the aging Nicaraguan boxer attempts to lace up the gloves.

Although Moseleys name still perks the ears of the everyday boxing fan, this matchup is sure to be a disappointment unless the ire felt by Moseley translates into a repeat of his 12th round KO over the Nicaraguan back in 2008. Catch this spectacle on PPV this Saturday.
