Dolphins TE Dustin Keller Out For The Season

The dreaded "out for the season" sentene strikes again. This time it's Dolphins TE Dustin Keller, who blew out his knee over the weekend. At this rate, maybe the NFL should cancel the last two preseason games. There have been, it seems at least, more major injuries this year than anytime in recent memory. Depth charts are catching a beating.

From Sports Illustrated:

Keller was clearly shaken after the injury, grasping his knee and visibly cursing as he was helped on to the cart.

It’s especially bad timing for Keller, as he’s currently on a one-year, $4.25 million contract with the Dolphins with $2.35 million of that guaranteed. The former Purdue standout, selected with the 30th overall pick by the New York Jets in the 2008 NFL draft, amassed 241 catches for 2,876 yards and 17 touchdowns for his first team over five seasons. But he missed eight games in 2012, and he took a one-year risk in free agency, turning down a multi-year contract offer from the Dolphins.
