Cory Booker Already Has A 16 Point Lead In The NJ Senate Race

Cory Booker may have been the most popular mayor in history with his hands-on approach and omnipresence on social media. Booker used Twitter to determine which driveways and streets he needed to shovel, to show how difficult it is to live on food stamps, and deal with constiutent needs on a daily, or hourly, basis.

Booker is taking that positive energy into the New Jersey Senatorial race, jumping out to an early 16-point lead ahead of the November election. Booker has the support of 54 percent of likely voters compared to just 38 percent for his conservative opponent, Steve Lonegan. Booker also has the support of 16 percent of Republicans, whereas Lonegan is pulling just five percent of Democrats. Booker has a narrow edge with independents, earning 43 percent of their votes.

Though the actual vote isn't until November 5, a 16 point lead at this stage means the race is Booker's to lose.
