The Miami Heat, Chris Bosh and the players’ association have agreed to part ways.
The All-Star forward hasn’t played since February 2016 because of blood clot issues. He has remained on the Heat roster as the sides have worked through complex medical and legal issues.
Last fall, Heat team doctors declined to clear Bosh to take part in training camp following blood test results.
He is guaranteed $52 million over the next two seasons, though a significant portion of that is covered by insurance. Bosh has remained on the Heat’s salary cap and this agreement is expected to remove Bosh from the cap and allow the Heat to move on without being hampered financially by his contract.
Bosh has said on numerous occasions that he still hopes to find a treatment plan that would allow him to resume his NBA career in the near future.
Potential landing spots, if he is medically cleared to play ball again, would have to include the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Washington Wizards.
