The summer blockbuster season is barely underway in part because A) it’s not really summer time yet, and B) fans are still awaiting the premieres of some of the most highly-anticipated science fiction of 2014.
But we’re off to a good start. Godzilla, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier are in our rearview mirror and X-Men: Days of Future Past is gearing up to drop this Friday. But fans are keeping an eye on the distant horizon for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
For those that don’t know, the Marvel Comics version of Guardians of the Galaxy features the interstellar exploits of Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Quasar, Adam Warlock, Drax the Destroyer and Groot as they ride around ticking off one would-be intergalactic conqueror after another. The live-action version is slated to drop on August 1st and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Lee Pace, among many others. The excitement is building around what may be another blockbuster.
