Bills Clear EJ Manuel To Play

Jeff Tuel was named the Buffalo Bills opening day starter, a move that was quickly rescinded in favor of rookie QB EJ Manuel. Tuel then saw his second shot at glory snatched away by EJ Manuel-lite, Thad Lewis.

Fortunately for Tuel, the new NFL is wrought with injuries, so it was only a matter of time before Lewis, too, got injured, and the spotlight was all his. Good for Tuel, bad for the Bills.

The Tuel era may have come to an end again in Buffalo, with news that Manuel has been cleared to play, and will be as celebrated as Congress ending the government shutdown (as in, not at all). Tuel threw two picks against the undefeated Chiefs on Sunday, one which was returned 100 demoralizing yards for a touchdown en route to a 23-13 loss.

Now at 3-6, the Bills will get Manuel back off the scrap heap and onto the field, just in time to get enough reps in during the rest of the season to raise expectations for his sophomore year (hear that, Buffalo? When was the last time you had expectations?).
