Howard University and Morehouse are two of the most prominent HBCUs in the nation, which means their annual clash is a biggie for their alums and fanbases. Until next year Howard has the bragging rights after the Howard Bison hung on to beat the Morehouse Maroon Tigers 27-16 in the third annual Nation’s Football Classic from Washington D.C.’s RFK Stadium. Saturday afternoon’s victory was also the third straight win by Howard.
Howard quarterback Greg McGhee keyed up the Morehouse defense for three touchdowns through the air for the second year in a row and his defense interrupted the Tigers' attempt to rally late in the fourth. All in all, the Howard defense recorded nine sacks and held firm in front of 17,000 fans to put the kibosh on Morehouse's offense.
