It seems like we’ve been losing stars and pop culture icons from our childhood more frequently these days, and today, unfortunately, that trend continued when we learned that Batman, aka Adam West, passed away at the age of 88.
West brought the Caped Crusader to life in the 1960’s “Batman” series and achieved iconic pop culture status through the show. What many might view as cheesy or corny based upon today’s advancements in technology and CGI, people of the 60s, 70s and 80s loved to watch the adventures of Batman and Robin each week, complete with the full screen “POW”, “BAM” and other sound effects presented to viewers graphically.
West, who passed away peacefully, is survived by his wife Marcelle, six children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero, his family said in a statement.
While we have seen many iterations of Batman, West will always remain, in the eyes of many, as the original.
