Actress Brie Larson will star as Carol Danvers, an Air Force fighter pilot whose DNA gets intertwined with that of an alien (Kree)after an accident which gives her superpowers.

The Origins Of Captain Marvel Explained

Captain Marvel has a long and complex history in Marvel comics! Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/ho3Hg6 There are a number of characters who have gone by the name “Captain Marvel” over the years – and they’ve appeared in both Marvel and DC comic books.

In the 2005 graphic novel Secret War: From The Files of Nick Fury, Captain Marvel is ranked as having a level 8 power set. The power set number is a quantification of all her abilities. For comparison, Wolverine’s is level 9.  Her strength level is Class 50, which means she has to ability to lift or move 50 tons, but can go to Class 100 in her Binary form.

Iron Man is listed as Class 100, while the Hulks max level is potentially off the scale. Other abilities include superhuman stamina, agility, space flight, and reflexes. Danvers also has the ability to convert any form of energy that she is struck with into physical strength or energy blasts. Captain Marvel puts them paws on Iron Man with regularity in the Civil War II: Captain Marvel vs. Iron Man story.

Early on, Captain Marvel was called Ms. Marvel. However, the designation has since been given to a Jersey City teen named Kamala Khan, an Inhuman who Danvers’ had acted as something of a mentor to prior to the events of Marvel’s Civil War II storyline. Fans will also recall that Rogue of the X-Men gained her super strength and flight abilities by stealing them from Danvers.
