A James Brown Biopic Is In The Works

A James Brown feature film is going to finally become a reality after Universal and Imagine Entertainment officially gave it the hat tip. The biopic that Variety says will “follow Brown’s rise from extreme poverty in Georgia to becoming a world famous and highly influential R&B musician with a string of hits in the 1960s and ’70s … ” will cast "42" star Chadwick Boseman to play Brown.

There isn't a name for the film or expected release date, but Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins are producing along with Mick Jagger and Victoria Pearman under their Jagged Films banner, according to Variety. Grazer had been wanting to do a film like this on Brown for more than a decade, but once "The Help" director Tate Taylor jumped on board, the project gained some steam.

This is obviously something to check for and see how they're progressing with this. Any picture on James Brown is going to get a critical look, considering his contribution to the music we still enjoy to this day.
